South Kerry Hurling League: Austin Stacks 8-20; St. Pats (East Kerry) 1-6.
Despite the fact that St. Pats were without a number of key first choice players nonetheless we gave a near perfect performance in this Wednesday evening’s (20th June) first round of the South Kerry League in Connolly Park. We led by 3-12 to 0-4 at half time and went on to score a further 5-8 in the second half. Peter O’Regan got a hat-trick of goals plus one point, Daniel Teahan scored two goals and our three half forwards on the night, Ronan Gilsenan, Colm Ó Giollagáin and Paul Daly, with one each, provided the other three. Colm and Paul also put over some brilliant scores – Colm six and Paul four. Our two centre-field men also got on the score sheet – Andrew Morrissey with two points and Cillian O’Riordan with four. Centre back Eoghan McKivergan added three points also. All but one of our eight goals and 20 points came from play – a 12th minute Paul Daly pointed free being the exception.
So a good start to this four-round League which continues for us with a trip to Duagh on 4th July.
In the meantime the 5th and final round of the Co. League goes ahead with an away trip to Abbeydorney on next Wednesday (27th June) for a 7.30pm start.
