JERRY DENNEHY RIP: All in the Club and the wider community were saddened to learn of the death of former Club Footballer and Hurler, Jerry Dennehy at the weekend. Jerry’s first success at Club level came in 1967 with the winning of the MH Co. Championship. He lined out at wing back on that team which was littered with stars of the future (Conall Fanning, Tommy Hannafin, Joe Reidy, Billy Ryle, Jerry Dennehy, Mike McCarthy, Jimmy Diggins, Dick Spring, Timmy Sheehan, Mikey Sugrue, Paudie McCarthy, John Lenihan, Larry Noonan, Lal Collins, Jackie Power. Subs used: John O’Keeffe, Tony O’Keeffe. Rest of panel: Ger O’Keeffe, John Crean, Mike Barry, Seán O’Callaghan and Tommy Kennington).
The following year Jerry made his SF Championship debut and was our regular goalkeeper for the next three seasons (1968-1970). During the same years he also lined out in goals for the Kerry U21F team, winning a Munster Championship title in 1968 with a win over Clare in the final.
We extend sincere sympathy to Jerry’s partner, Peggy; his daughter Jennifer; and brother and sister, Denis and Noreen.
