Hurlers Bow Out of Junior Championship

Co. Junior Hurling Championship
Duagh 0-12; Austin Stacks 0-9.
The semi final of the County JH Championship played in Connolly Park on last Bank Holiday Monday (31st Oct) saw the visitors emerge victorious with three points to spare.  A physically stronger Duagh outfit adapted better to the heavy underfoot conditions and lead by 0-7 to 0-5 at half time, with five of their seven coming from placed balls.
All our five points came from play - Paul Daly (2), John McCarthy, Francie McLoughlin andRonan Gilsenan.
Six minutes after the resumption were were back on level terms with Ronan on target from a free and from play.
An exchange of points (ours from another Ronan free) saw the sides still deadlocked at the end of the third quarter (eights points each).
DUagh then added three more  before another Ronan free (59th minute) reduced the deficit to two.
A minute later Duagh restored theri three points lead and deep in injury time Danny Maguire unleashed a piledriver which was well saved by the Duagh keeper for a sixty five.
But time ran out and we congratulate Duagh (managed by former Rock Hurler, David O'Regan) on a well deserved victory.
