SCÓR na nÓG: (i) Mórbhuíochas to our 4-man table quiz team who represented us in the Kerry county final of Scór na nÓg on Sunday last i nGleann Beithe. The experience gained will be of great benefit in 2020! Ár leaideanna misniúla: Shane Mac Coitir, Jack Ó Dúill (Ó Dubhghaill), Ruairí Ó Loingsigh, Dáithí Ó Loingsigh. (ii) Déanaimid comhbhrón le hElla Nic Gabhann toisc nach raibh ar a cumas páirt a ghlacadh san Amhránaíocht Aonair i gcraobh an chontae de Scór. A heavy cold prevented her from participating. (iii) Three of our neighbouring clubs came in 2nd places, viz, Parnells in quiz, Blennerville ballad singers and Na Gaeil with their nuachleas.
PEIL FAOI 6: A long season of great sessions…..laistigh agus lasmuigh. Many fine upcoming GAA players on view! A least 8 coaches involved. Spread the word that new footballers will be wanted in the new year! The hall is already booked! ‘UNDER 6 FOOTBALL’ is the first step in a long and fruitful Rock career! Isn’t that where ‘Star’ started?
PEIL FAOI 8: These youngsters had at least 60 sessions, including several blitzes (Churchill, Na Mistéalaigh, Coiste na nÓg), and had a great time; they had indoor and outdoor training, club leagues (Caoimhín de Barra, ‘Bracker’ ‘Regan) and challenge games v other clubs.
PEIL FAOI 10: These boys had 58 sessions during the season, played 7 great games against other clubs (including Youghal and Club Naomh Fionnbarra in Cork), took part in the Milltown Blitz, the Churchill Blitz, the GoGames and, gan dabht, the John Lynch Tournament.
PEIL FAOI 12 – 2019: Earlier this month we celebrated a hugely successful 2019 for our U12 boys with an awards ceremony at the clubhouse. It was standing room only as this wonderful group of 37 footballers were joined by their families and adoring fans to celebrate their many achievements throughout the year: County League Division 1 winners (Phases 1 & 2), Central League champions (Divisions 1A & 1B) and table toppers of the Tralee District League. And that was just on the domestic front! The class of 2019 was probably the most travelled U12 group yet with many weekend jaunts ‘out foreign’, including trips to Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Kilmacud, Naas, Templeogue and Oranmore. While there were medals and gongs aplenty on the night, an even greater reward for the players, parents and coaches alike was the chance to recall some of the great moments of scil, gaisce, spiorad agus craic that will live long in the memory. Ní raibh oíche go dtí é! All involved should be very proud of the great strides made in the development of this group as footballers and young ambassadors for The Rock. Proudest of all are the coaching team of Liam, Mike, Morgan, Battie, Eric, Ciarán, Shane and Dex. And so, comhghairdeas to the Rockie U12 heroes of 2019….laochra peile na Carraige! An painéal: goalkeepers: Leon O’Connor, Conor Galvin, Adam O’Brien; full-backs: Bao Foley, Gabriel Nosidlk, Tomás O’Connell, Eoghan Murphy, Seán Clifford, Denis Griffin, Rian Kelly, Marcel Kowalczyk; halfbacks: Max Nosidlk, Fionán Ryan, Liam O’Connell, Rian Walsh, Jay Sweeney, Jayden Moriarty, Adam Johnston, Brian Kavanagh; midfielders: Ben Murphy, Gavin Casey, Johnny Dawson, Brendan Maunsell, Naode Derege; half-forwards: Ronan Carroll, Jake Carmody, Cormac Bastible, Alex Tuohy, Jack Diggin, Tadhg Falvey, Jack Shanaha; full forwards: Ryan O’Driscoll, Rory Lynch, Eoghan Costello, Rory Kavanagh, Luke O’Mahony, Cormac O’Connell…..and with very honourable mention of the U10 players who always answered the call when we needed them throughout the year….in particular, Denis Brassil, Michael “Haulie” Cotter, Harry Murphy and Danny Lane. P.S. Many thanks to Annette Carmody for providing the catering on the night.
PEIL FAOI 12 – 2020: No sooner had the hall been cleared after the awards ceremony than the 2020 U12 coaching team convened for the first time to commence operations for next year. Plans are at an advanced stage for a return to training in mid-January and we will be in touch with parents very soon. Watch this space! Mórbhuíochas do Shane Ó Loingsigh don chuntas cuimsitheach seo.

BAINISTEOIRÍ/COACHES/MENTORS: On reading the above notes one can easily see where the foundations for senior victories are laid, victories such as this year’s two major county competition wins by ‘Wayne’s Wonderful Wily Warriors’.
NA MEÁNSCOILEANNA: (i) Iománaíocht Faoi 19: Having defeated Coláiste Mhuire, Cóbh, in the Munster semi-final of their division, The Green hurlers will face their ‘neighbours’ and rivals, Mercy Mounthawk, in an all-Tralee Munster HURLING final! This game has been rescheduled for this Friday (20th). Mounthawk pipped Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí (2-13 to 1-10) in their semi-final. Bhí buachaillí na gaelscoile 0-3 chun tosaigh agus 10 nóiméad le dul ach scóráil Mounthawk 1-5 agus b’shin buille maraithe na muice! Best wishes to Luke Chester and Jonathan Lowe. (ii) Peil Faoi 19: The Green will face Ardscoil Hamaltún, Droichead na Bandan, Contae Chorcaí, in their next big Munster Colleges Senior Championship (Corn Uí Mhuirí) challenge (quarter final) on 15th January 2020.
