PAUL LUCY MEMORIAL WALK/RUN: Thanks to all who supported and/or took part in the Paul Lucey Memorial Walk/Run. See all the photos from the event on Club Facebook and Twitter
PEIL FAOI 6/8/10: The following suggested activities should help our younger players to maintain their fitness: (i) 20 kick passes (left foot and right foot), (ii) 20 solos (an dá chos…deas is clé), (iii) 20 pick-ups (an dá chos), (iv) 20 fist passes (dorn clé agus dorn deas), (v) 20 body catches, (vi) 20 high catches. Tá a lán oibre sa mhéid sin agus cleachtadh a dhéanann máistreacht….practice makes perfect! All that daily ball work can only be good and when you return with your panel, you’ll be in perfect shape for action!! Bígí ag cleachtadh libh féin, a bhuachaillí, go dtí go mbuailfimid le chéile arís.
PEIL FAOI 12/14/16: Keep up the fitness levels during our ‘off the field’ period, boys! Leanaigí libh leis an traenáil! Just (i) work diligently on the skills and (ii) go for a run every day or every second day. You’ll be as fit as a fiddle when the time comes for games! If you study hard at school and at home, a regular break from the books and from the computer is a worthwhile exercise! The fitter you are the better you’ll study! That’s what the experts say! Bígí ag cleachtadh libh féin, a bhuachaillí, go dtí go mbuaifimid le chéile arís.
BÓITHRÍN NA SMAOINTE: A look back at what was happening in the club in 2010….a few items from our Club Notes! (i) UNDER 8: We had a big turn out for our first Thursday night session in Connolly Park and the players who impress were Luke Chester, Joey Nagle, Johnny Feeley, Darragh Flynn, Evan Foley, Liam Geaney, Conor Harte, Eoin Higgins, John Kenny, Robert Morrissey. (Cá bhfuil siad anois agus an bhfuil siad fós ag imirt peile nó spórt ar bith eile?) (ii) PEIL FAOI 11: On Saturday last our boys played in the Under 11 Blitz which was organised by Coiste Thrá Lí/Tralee Town Board and was held in Páirc Uí Éalaithe. Brilliant football was played and the players had a great time. (They all slept soundly that night!) We thank the K-O’R Club, and Reggie Griffin and Jimmy Foley in particular, for all the hard work…people like these are the foundation stones of the GAA and ‘true decendants’ of Davin and Cusack! Bhí páirt nach beag ag Colm Ó Mongáin sna himeachtaí, chomh maith! (iii) UNDER 14: Our Nemo Tournament Squad: Niall Carroll-Cane, James O’Connor, Colin Griffin, Michael O’Donnell, Seán Dukes, Timothy Murphy, Jack O’Donnell, Dara Ó Scannláin, Ciarán Flanagan, Jack McCarthy, Dylan Hennebry, Calvin Foley, Seán Hurley, Richard Hurley, Craig Corcoran, Cathal O’Reilly, Anthony Moynihan, Sam Nealon, Dylan Harnett, Adam Barrett, Jack Ó Muireagáin, Seán Mac Muiris. Training continues on Tuesdays and on Thursdays at 4.30pm. Full turn out expected, boys, as real action starts in a few weeks time. (iv) FAOI 14: Well done to the Tralee Under 14 Team that beat Shannon Rangers in the county quarter final last Wednesday evening. Our reps in this squad: Craig Corcoran, Dylan Harnett, Anthony Moynihan, Sam Nealon, Seán Ryan, Niall Carroll-Cane, Michael O’Donnell, Richard Hurley, Adam Barrett, Ciarán Flanagan and James O’Connor. Tralee will play East Kerry in the semi-final. (v) FAOI 15: Congratulations to Greg Horan, Barry Walsh and Brian Horgan (cúl báire) who were chosen for the North Kerry Gaelic Football Development Squad. (vi) PEIL FAOI 16: We had a very successful outing to Páirc an Fhia on Sunday last and played and defeated Na Crócaigh in an exciting challenge game. We also attended the Kerry~Dublin encounter in Staid an Ghearaltaigh. Our panel: Shane Begley, Aidan McQuinn, Barry Walsh, Lúcás Ó Donnaile, Brian Horgan, Seosamh Ó Ceallaigh, Tom McLoughlin, Shane Crowley (0-1), Daniel Carroll, Breandán Caball (1-0), Greg Horan, Pádraig Mac Giobún, Éamonn McAllen (2-0), Kyle Mac Giobún (1-7), Conor Jordan (0-1), Shane Walsh, Alan Duggan, Eoghan Mac Iomhargáin, D.Ó Caoimh, Seán Ó Nualláin. We opened well with an early point from the boot of Kyle. Kyle pointed again before Breandán Caball scored a nice goal after a great run by Éamonn McAllen. Two by Crokes were answered by two (frees) from Kyle and then Crokes pointed their third free. On-form Kyle scored two more points, having been given possession by Éamonn and Breandán. Our backs were holding out well, though fouling a little! Barry and Seosamh Ó Ceallaigh were solid in the middle and Brian, Tom, Aidan and Lúcás were sweeping up a lot of ball. The Deerpark boys at that stage stepped up a gear, helped by an injury to our No.6 (gortú coise), and they notched 1-2. Alan Duggan then came on for S.Ó Ceallaigh and played to good effect. Shane and Daniel were worked very hard throughout the hour i lár na páirce. Good possession was being fast-forwarded to a lively forward division that was combining well. Dhá phointe chun cinn ag leath ama: 1-7 v 1-5! Conor began after the sos with a nice point and at this juncture Shane Begley made another fine save…is cúl báire iontach é! Then our top-of-the-right man netted twice…from a good pass from Shane Walsh and then from a lob by Breandán. In the final quarter the hosts came into the game strongly, scoring 2-2, but the hard working and energetic Shane Crowley pointed, after a great run, and Kyle goaled after great defensive work by Lúcás resulted in Greg parting to Breandán who fed Éamonn who placed the No.14. Na Stacaigh: 4-8; Na Crócaigh: 3-7. A nice beginning to 2010 but early days yet and Joe was happy! Tosach maith leath na hoibre…agus bhí an-lá againn i gCill Airne! An important session will held in Connolly Park on Wednesday in preparation for our Na Piarsaigh trip. We’ll travel to Cork on Saturday morning. We’ll attend the Kerry-Cork clash in Páirc Uí Rinn on Saturday night. It’s all action and great fun!
