THE FIELD: We look forward to the reopening of Connolly Park! Trí gháir mholta!!! Our organisation, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, has announced plans for the safe return to action. The CLG Covid-19 Advisory Group has decided on several ‘steps’ for our ‘return-to-action’ journey as follows: (i) 8 June – designated walking tracks may re-open; (ii) 29 June – pitches/fields may reopen to allow SMALL group training sessions for juvenile teams….yipee – just over two weeks to go! (iii) 20 July – full outdoor training may resume and club appointed officials, (maor coróinvíris / covid supervisor), will be at the club gate to check players’ temperatures and to fill in health questionnaires to ensure that nobody has a ‘touch’ of the virus; (iv) 31 July – club juvenile and youth competitions may resume/begin but the number of spectators will have be confirmed according to government guidelines (treorlínte rialtais). (v) 10 August – players may enter the clubhouse and gym.
Yes, boys, our future looks promising and we look forward to getting into real football action! We already ‘feel’ the Connolly Park buzz! Sea, it’s time to check boots, togs and geansaís. Perhaps, boot laces need to be renewed and…and socks might even have to be darned! Chun oibre linn, a leaideanna! Be working harder than ever on your skills, on your speed, on your strength and on your stamina? Ní fada go mbeidh geataí na páirce ar oscailt! Tá Páirc an Easpaig, Páirc na mBan Rialta agus Páirc na gCruaghort ag feitheamh go foighneach! And save your patience ‘till you get on the green grass….and then let go! Bímis ullamh!
