BUACHAILLÍ FAOI 6 (Boys born in 2015/2014): The Rock Under 6 football coaching programme will begin in Mounthawk School Hall (gym) at 10am on Sunday next (12th January). Every boy on our side of town is encourage to come along. Many beginners expected! We welcome all new faces as well as those lads who were with us last season. Fáilte roimh gach duine. BUACHAILLÍ FAOI 8 (Buachaillí a rugadh i 2013/2012): Mounthawk Gym (hall) will be the venue for the Under 8 lads on Sunday morning next (12th) and throw-in will be at 11.00am. We’ll welcome everybody from last season’s group and we’ll have a special welcome for new boys. We hope to see some new U8 faces!
BUACHAILLÍ FAOI 10/11 (Buachaillí born in 2011/2010): The Green CBS is the venue for our first Under 10 football session of 2020 and the action on the astroturf pitch will commence at 11am on next Sunday (12th). Looking forward to a good crowd of enthusiastic footballers! Football on the astroturf is special!
PLEANANNA 2020: Some of our plans for the season ahead: (i) Traenáil faoi dhíon…Eanáir go Márta. (ii) Traenáil lasmuigh…Aibreán go Deireadh Fómhair. (iii) Campaí ‘Cúl’ an Chlub agus Campaí ‘Cúl’ Bhord an Chontae. (iv) Blitzchomórtais/tournaments. (v) Team trips for games against other clubs and return visits. (vi) Comórtais inmheánacha an chlub (Corn de Barra, Corn Uí Fhearnáin, Corn Uí Riagáin, Corn Uí Ghealbháin, srl). Give your child the best in Gaelic Football. Let him be part of a 102 year old GAA club with members who have won 90 senior All-Ireland medals for Kerry!
AGM: A very fruitful and successful juvenile annual general meeting took place on Tuesday last (7th) ag an gClubtheach i bPáirc Uí Chonghaile. A wholesome discussion on the events, games, etc, of 2019 took place, pleans for the coming season were discussed in detail, coaches/mentors were chosen/reappointed and the coiste stiúrtha was chosen and will be, once again, under the chairmanship of Tim McMahon. Every time that you do business in the post office let it be known that you are a Rockie and they will ‘stamp’ their/our Rock Club card. The club with the most points will win the franchise. SCÓR na bPÁISTÍ: (i) Scór na bPáistí is for youngsters who attend primary school and it will take place in late spring. Now is the time to prepare. Surely we have a boy or two or a girl who can sing a song, someone who could tell a story, a singing group or a group of musicians and we have a few experienced quiz lads! We are one of the few clubs that could enter three competitors/groups in each competition….rannán na gcailíní, rannán na mbuachaillí, rannán na hiománaíochta. (ii) ‘Well done’ to the three Kerry clubs that will have performers in the Scór na nÓg All-Ireland finals in the INEC, Cill Airne, ar Lá ‘le Bríde (1ú Feabhra). They were ‘tops’ in the Munster finals in Ovens last Sunday. Comhghairdeachas le Fionnúig (ceol uirlise), Gleann Fleisce (bailéadghrúpa) agus Spá Chill Airne (quiz).
ATHCHÚRSÁIL: The ladies of the club will hold their annual Clothes Recycling Fundraiser in early spring and they earnestly request that every household would commence collecting in advance of Lá ‘le Bríde (1ú Feabhra). Sea, tús maith, leath na hoibre! Acceptable clothes/goods include men’s/women’s/children’s clothing, shoes, handbags, belts, soft toys and household textiles such as curtains and towels. Duvets or pillows cannot be accepted. All items must be clean and dry. Is mór é an beagáinín!

Best wishes to Seán Quilter (captaen), Armin Heinrich, Eoghan Carroll, Ruairí O’Connell, Tom O’Farrell, Niall Fitzmaurice, Jordan Kissane, Cian Purcell, Conor Horan, Luke Chester and Ben Quilter. (ii) Cispheil Faoi 19: Best wishes to David Burke and his fellow-basketballers (Meánscoil Chnoc an tSeabhaic) in their preparation for their challenge v Coláiste Phádraig (Castle Island) in an all-Kerry All-Ireland final on January 21st in the National Basketball Arena. The Tralee boys defeated St Malachy’s of Belfast, 74-63, in an entertaing and hard-fought semi-final.
