ACADAHM NA gCAILÍNÍ: The Acadamh cailíní were at Connolly Park last Sunday 11th for training. Only the U8 and U10 girls
were along as the U12s were having a well earned rest and even with this we were pleased to welcome over fifty girls along on the day. The U10 girls managed to fit in running techniques, penalty taking and several small-sided games. We can see a huge improvement in these girls and are looking forward to upcoming games.
FAOI 12: U12 Division Two: Our U12 girls finished their campaign in this league with a win over Laune Rangers on Thursday 8th. Well done to Alanah and all their girls for a great game. This win left the girls in third place in the league. This team won their North Kerry division and have lost just two games all season. It has been a great joy for their mentors to work with this group of girls and they have given great enjoyment and excitement to all watching. Their behaviour, both on and off the pitch (having won or lost), has been impeccable and a great credit to both themselves and their parents. Many thanks to all the parents who have supported the girls at every match throughout the season and also, of course, helping with transport. Massive thanks are due to Niamh for all her hard work, arranging games, shirts, lifts, encouragement and just about anything that was needed. And, gan dabht, a huge thank you to John W. and Chris who have shown that they are a huge asset, both to the club and to this team. Finally, a huge buíochas to one of the best U12 teams in Kerry…from all the Acadamh mentors, parents and all at the club…for the enjoyment they have given us this season. We look forward to hearing a lot more from this group in the future. ( Páirc an Chrócaigh i ndeich mbliana ). FAOI 14: The hiatus was short…we host Division 3 of the North Kerry U 14 Blitz on Friday evening and I am sure that the girls are looking forward to getting back into action. Training resumes on Tuesday @ 5:30pm. The fixtures for the North Kerry League are also published and we will be back competing all over North Kerry in the coming weeks.
FAOI 16: Last week was disappointing but we regrouped on Monday night in Connolly Park to prepare for the challenges ahead. We want to wish the best of luck to Laura and Charlotte in next Saturday’s Munster Final against the Rebels in Brosna.
SÓISIR: While not playing out of our skin in the Junior Championship, or anything like our best, we defeated Castleisland last week. Some of our play was out of the top drawer but the girls themselves know that in order to gain silverware improvement will have to come. We played Castlegregory last Monday evening…result not available on going to print…and we will finish the league part of the championship v Currow in Connolly Park on the 19th.
ABBEY/STACKS: The Senior Championship is on a break until Kerry have completed their All-Ireland trek and, so, all that we can do is continue training and prepare ourselves for the huge challenges ahead of us. It has to be said that there is great co-operation between ourselves and Abbeydorney and it is plain to see that our girls are improving from the combined training. Training continues on Tuesday in Abbeydorney and on Thursday in Connolly Park. I encourage our girls to attend as Joe and David are really pulling out the stops to address the weaknesses in both teams. Mná na Carraige agus na Mainistreach go deo!
