U12 Girls: We played away to Na Gaeil in Rd 1 of the Town League last Tuesday night (Sept 8th) FT Na Gaeil 1-7 Austin Stacks 2-6 . We had a very tough game versus Na Gaeil in our town league opener. While we led throughout, we made hard work of finishing the job as the Na Gaeil team were very good! We led by one point at half time after a well taken goal by Maria Sami got us off to a good start (1-1 to 0-3 at the break). Na Gaeil kept chipping away at the points and drew level mid way through the second half until Maria bagged her second goal and Kara Kirby and Chloe O’Sullivan tagged on a couple of points. However Na Gaeil got a goal to put them right back into it. In a nail biting finish we held on for a two pint win despite intense pressure on our excellent backs. Well done girls for your hard work. While we gave all subs some game time, we will try harder to give more girls more time over the next few matches. Next up for the team will be a home game V Kerins O’Rahillys on Tuesday Sept 15th at 6.30pm

Senior Ladies – Intermediate Championship in Rd 7 we were due to play our final round away to ISG Kenmare on Monday last Sept 7th but unfortunately Kenmare had to concede. With the final round to be played this week we will have to wait and see if we have qualified for a Semi Final spot. More games still to be played for our senior team as we have entered a team in the North Kerry League and will play in Div 1 along with Finuge St. Senans, Castleisland, Na Gaeil, Corcha Dhuibhne and Listowel. We are due to play Corcha Dhuibhne in Rd 1 this weekend – but have no fixture at time of writing so keep on eye on website for update.
Thanks: We take his opportunity to thank Sean Dukes who has stepped down from his role as Senior Ladies Club trainer. Sean has been with us for the last 2 seasons and brought a great level of professionalism to the role and was very committed to the team throughout his tenure . We send out best wishes to Sean who is heading to Cork to continue his studies.
Sympathy: Everyone in the club was shocked to learn of the sudden passing of U14 girls team mentor, Donagh O’Mahoney, yesterday. Donagh and his wife Una have been wonderful supporters of our club for many years and 2 of their 3 daughters Grace (U16) and Rachel (U14) play with the club. Austin Stacks GAA Club wish to express our sincere sympathy to Una, Ava, Grace & Rachel and to Donagh’s extended family and friends at this very sad time.
