U12 Girls: North Kerry U12 Div 1 FT Austin Stacks 5-8 Ballymac 1-5 – report by Gene O’Donnell: Austin Stacks completed their 2019 North Kerry U12 programme undefeated after a win in Connolly Park v Ballymac in very windy and cold conditions on Tues 2nd April. With the aid of the wind the black and amber girls raced into an early half time lead of 5-4 to 0-2. Stacks bright lights in this first half included captain Kate Sugrue, Lion hearted Aoibhe Kilgallen, Ella Moore, birthday girl Chloe O’Sullivan, Amy Stack Leen, Aisling Browne and Clodagh Moore. Ballymac rallied in the second half ably lead by Gill Quirke, Anna Collins, Maura Culloty, Niamh Rice and Rose Brosnan, scoring 1-3 in the final quarter. Stacks Emily Flynn also impressed on her 2019 debut. However every one of the thirty girls who togged out on a horrible night deserve the highest praise for such a sporting encounter. Final score Austin Stacks 5-8 Ballymac 1-5.

U16 Girls: in Rd 3 of the Co league Div 1 we made the trip to South Kerry & suffered a defeat to the mighty Southern Gaels last Tuesday (April 9th). The bus trip seems to have been a great hit and despite the result the girls all really enjoyed their evening. Sincere thanks as always to Peter, Tjitske & Caroline who looked after the team so well and special mention to Bernie Sommers who looked after team transport on this occasion.
Senior Ladies: We had a fine win over Rathmore B in the Mary Jo Curran Cup last Sunday morning FT Austin Stacks 6-10 Rathmore 3-1 Co. Gaeltacht Scholarships: The GAA and Coláistí Chorca Dhuibhne are offering Gaeltacht scholarships to members (ages 12 to 17 years) of GAA clubs. These scholarships will enable club members to attend Irish language courses in the Corca Dhuibhne (West Kerry) Gaeltacht during the summer holidays. Over the years, many young members of The Rock Club were on these Cúrsaí Gaeilge and thoroughly enjoyed the sport, lessons, music, song and dance in atmaisféar Gaelach. It’s a great way to begin preparations for an Irish oral exam….worth 40% of marks in the Leaving Certificate Examination. Interested applicants are asked to text their names to 087 6606693 asap. Closing date set for 20th April (Satharn na Cásca).
JOB MATCH: With the huge success over the last 4 years we are now taking CV’s for Summer, Part-Time and Full-Time employment or perhaps a change of employment. Please consider this great opportunity, where you will also receive support to update your CV and direct help with interview techniques from the Job Match Mentors.
This initiative has been a huge success for the club and its members. The mission here is to support our members with local employment and perhaps identify opportunities for members to return to this region who are today working or living outside the area.
If you are interested in any of these categories – New opportunities; Employment for Jobseekers or Summer Jobs – please email your CV to firstname.lastname@example.org and a member of the committee will follow up with you personally.
