Div 1 FT Milltown Listry 2-7 Austin Stacks 8-8.
Div 4 FT Austin Stacks 3-3 Chorcha Dhuibhne 8-9 – Match report by Maurice Mac Namara:
The cailiní from the penninsula dominated this game once they turned around at half time with the wind at their backs. the Stacks girls had fought valiantly to hold the score down to 2-02 to 1-01 but once they had to face the wind their stronger opponants took control scoring some fine team goals as well as one or two outstanding individual efforts. Corcha Dhuibhne were very strong down through the spine of the team with an excellent midfield, their full back and centre back held their ground and made some significant clearances, but it was in the forwards where some of the skill shown by the corner forwards was exemplary. Austin Stacks Division 1 team were also playing tonight which meant that this team were short of some of their stronger players, however it was heartening to see the fight in the girls some of whom are still under 10. The biggest cheer of the night was for Stacks final score where they battled to clear their lines, after conceding a few goals, and after some excellent fielding and teamwork the ball was buried to the top corner. On this evidence Corca Dhuibhne have some very skillful girls and as the season goes on they will only improve, Austin Stacks future is bright at this age group if the fight and battling qualities of these very young girls is anything to go by.
