U12 Girls: The new U12 Co. League Blitz competition commenced last Tuesday evening – these are 9 a side go games styled blitz’s and will be run every Tuesday over 5 weeks. Milltown/Listry hosted the first evening in Listry GAA Grounds – well done to our travelling team . This week’s games took place in Milltown, next Tuesday night we travel across town to Kerins O’Rahillys.
U13 Girls: Pride of place this week goes to our U13 girls who were outright winners of the Sandra Keane U13 Invitational Tournament which took place last Saturday in John Mitchel’s GAA Complex. We topped our group defeating Rathmore, Ballyduff & Churchill to reached the Cup Semi Final. Scartaglin appealed and were granted permission to drop down to the Shield competition so we received a bye into the final. Ballymac & Castleisland contested the other cup semi final with Ballymac emerging as winners. The final itself was a one sided affair with Stacks completely dominate in all area’s of the pitch. At half time we led 2-5 to 0-1 (goals by Grace Lucid & Holly O’Brien). Ballymac opened brightly in the 2nd half scoring a goal within minutes but Stacks regrouped and outscored Ballymac 1-4 to 1-1 in the rest of the game. FT Austin Stacks 3-9 Ballymac 1-2 Team: Emma Dunican, Aimee Stack Leane, Kaja Huserova, Deirdre Quigley, Shauna Harris, Holly O’Brien (2-0), Colleen Sayers (0-2), Grace Kirby, Orlaith Stack Leane, Rachel O’Mahoney, Abi Mac Namara, Saoirse Moriarty (0-5), Leah Wang, Grace Lucid (1-2) & Lilly Collins. Lily Collins collected the cup from John Keane (brother of the late Sandra) with Grace Lucid winning the player of the match award. This is the Austin Stacks 2nd time winning the Cup competition, we were previous winners in 2017. Great credit due to dedicated mentors Anthony, Siobhan, Aidan, Marian & Donagh and to the girls themselves some of whom had suffered a heartbreaking defeat to the same opposition in the U12 Co. League Div 1 final (in the very same venue) just 12 months ago. So a great achievement by a wonderful group of very talented girls who played out of their skins on the day. Thanks to the North Kerry Ladies Football board for a wonderfully organised tournament again this year.

U16 team had 2 useful challenge games this week away to Kerins O’Rahillys on Tuesday July 23rd and home to Ballyvourney on Thursday July 25th. Thanks to our U16 team mentors for submitting an application to include an Austin Stacks U17 team in this year’s Co. Championship. We will be away to Listowel on August 15th.
