ACADAHM NA gCAILÍNÍ: The Acadamh was split into three groups on Sunday last with the Under 6 and Under 8 girls in the GSG at 10am. The Under 10 girls in the GSG at 11am. The Under 12 girls made use of the good weather with their first training day outside at the Cathair Sailí pitch. Various drills and games were played at both venues with the usual emphasis on fun. Over sixty girls were training this weekend, this number is going to increase when we move outdoors and, so, if anyone wishes to join the team of mentors, please, come and have a chat with any of us. Fáilte romhat!
CATHAIR UÍ MHÓRÁIN: Blennerville: We were pleased to welcome Laura, Clara, Ava, Aoibheann, Julie, Katriona, Anna, Léna, Katelyn, Ciara, Rebecca and Aoife who have been training with us for the past two weeks and we hope that they will be happy to stay with us for the foreseeable future.LÁ FHÉILE PÁDRAIG: On 17ú Márta the Acadamh Cailíní will be marching once again in the St. Patrick’s Day parade. So, be prepared for plenty of beautiful singing and loud noise! We will advise everybody of the meeting time and place but it will be about 11.30am. John Joe Sheehy Road.
TRAENÁIL ARÍS: Under 6 and Under 8 girls will be training at The Green School Gym at 10am. U10 girls will be training at the GSG at 11am. This is our last Sunday indoors and it would be great to see all our girls along on the day. Start looking out those boots: they will be needed shortly. Under 12 girls will be training at Caherslee on Sunday at 11am. Games will be starting shortly for this age group and, so, please attend training as much as possible. Due to the large numbers in this age group, we have entered two teams in the North Kerry League. All girls will be advised by our text service and through these notes of games, etc.
CEIST AR BITH: If you’ve any questions, please ring/cuir glaoch ar John ar 0868151966 (evenings).
BIRTHDAYS: The Acadamh wishes a “breithlá sona” to: Ava Kelliher who was ten on 29th February, Laura Devane who was nine on Saturday 6th March, Tara Clifford who will be seven on Friday 12th March, Sarah Tansley who will be ten on Wednesday 17th March and a special birthday wish to Andrea O’Donoghue who has recently joined our U12 team of mentors and celebrated her birthday on 29th February. (Does that mean that Andrea can have a birthday party only every four years?).
UNDER FOURTEEN: We had a very informative and tough challenge match with Finuge/St. Senans last Saturday. It was obvious that our girls had only just started back and that the rustiness shown with some of the skills was worked out of the system throughout the game…so much so that by the end we were very competitive. Congratulations to Karina on making the Kerry squad and we send a “get well soon” wish to Patriz. Training continues on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 5:15pm
UNDER SIXTEEN: A magnificent number of girls attended training last week. Keep up the good work, girls, and we look forward to seeing ye again this Thursday @ 6:30pm. The North Kerry League will be starting soon and we should have a really good campaign if the girls continue to show the interest they have shown so far. We send a “get well soon” wish to Laura who was spotted on crutches over the weekend. Take mentors’ advice and get as much rest as possible…tabhair aire do do chos, a chailín!
SENIOR LADIES: Disappointment was the emotion in evidence last Sunday morning as our opening game of the County League was called off due to the lack of a pitch…not anyone’s fault: just a backlog of fixtures. I want to thank the Killarney Legion club for their understanding and especially Seán and Maura for putting up with the delay in decision-making. Hopefully, the success of St. Brendans later in the day made up for it!. We host Finuge/St Senans this coming weekend and it is hoped that this will go off without a hitch as the Senior Girls have made a huge commitment to training and, gan dabht, they are looking forward to a competitive fixture. Mná gan sárú! An Charraig Abú!
