At the behest of Club Secretary, Elma Nix, who is always on the look-out for projects that will benefit the Club or, in this case, provide more information for our members and followers on our website and elsewhere, we begin today what we hope will be an occasional item on significant Club anniversaries. While this will not be a daily item or even a weekly one we hope to come up with items of interest as frequently as we can.
So today we begin with a very significant anniversary as follows:
When our Senior Footballers line out later this year in the first round of the County Championship they will be playing their 253rd game in this competition. Their very first game, as a separate Club, in the Co. Championship, took place exactly 90 years ago on this day and date – Sunday, 6th May 1928. The game was played in Dingle, against Dingle and we came out winners by 3-1 to 0-1. We went on later that year to win our first Co. Championship title.
