SENIOR FOOTBALL: We have drawn Dingle in the quarter final of the Co. Championship. In a way this will be an historic meeting as our very first SF Co. Championship game played 90 years ago this year was against a team named Dingle in Dingle, played on 6th May 1928.We won that game and went on to win our first Co. Championship title later that year.
This will be our 17th Championship meeting in total and of the 16 previous encounters Dingle have come out on top on nine occasions while we have won seven. Those seven wins include the last two occasions we have met – in the 2010 semi final which we won by 2-11 to 2-9 and in the 2014 semi final which ended in a 2-13 to 1-9 victory for us.
Our game against Dingle goes ahead as a double header in Austin Stack Park on Saturday week (29th Sept) with a 6pm throw-in. followed by Kerins O’Rahillys .v. St. Brendans. The other two quarter finals go ahead the following day in Fitzgerald Stadium – East Kerry .v. South Kerry and the Killarney derby between Legion and Dr. Crokes.

BEST WISHES: to one of the Club’s outstanding mentors of many teams down the years, including most recently our SF team, John Joe Sugrue who, we are glad to report, is well on the way to a full recovery after a medical procedure in Dublin during the past week.
CLUBHOUSE: As always the Clubhouse is available for all types of Parties and Functions. Enquiries about Club Bookings should be made by contacting Harry Hynes at 087 2467286.
A NIGHT OF MEMORIES: For many years Francie Breen has been one of the great organizers and Master of Ceremonies of numerous special events in the Clubhouse. And Francie has another such event coming up on the October Bank Holiday Sunday Night (28th Oct) which we are sure will be of interest to many people both young and old. His posters advertising the event are headed ‘From the Candy Store to Baltymore – a Night of Memories with music from the best of Irish Showbands’. The €5 enrty fee is in aid of the Connolly Park Senior Citizens Christmas Party. The Showband Music will include, among many others, Brendan Bowyer, Dickie Rock, Joe Dolan, Brendan O’Brien, Eileen Reid, Larry Cunningham and Big Tom to name but a few.
On its own this would be a night to remember but can you imagine the night it would be if we were also celebrating the winning of the Co. Championship which is due to played earlier that day. So an added incentive Footballers to bring home the bacon on that day.
CARDS: The 45 Card Sessions continue in the Clubhouse on every Monday and Thursday nights, commencing at 9.30pm each night.
LOTTO: Last Night’s (17th Sept) Jackpot, worth €9,200, was not won. The numbers drawn were 5, 16, 18, 22. The €20 winners were: Carmel O’Neill and Barry Walsh, both c/o The Club; Gerard Teahon, c/o Club Rockies; and Donnchadh O’Regan and Laura O’Regan, both c/o Brendan O’Regan.
