Girls Academy: Our U6 U8 & U10 girls & boys made the journey to Killarney Legion GAA club last Saturday morning. Well done to all the girls who played brilliantly and enjoyed themselves enormously. Thanks to Legion for the invitation. This Sunday we return to our usual training at 11am in Caherslee. New players welcome in all age groups just come along and join in any Sunday.
U12 Girls: Its been a busy week for our U12 girls in NK Div 4 – we played away to Dingle last Sunday (April 15th) and came away with a very comprehensive win and then last night (Wed 18th April) we played at home to Abbeydorney B in a very exciting game played in tough wintery conditions. Our girls put in a fantastic performance to see off the Abbeydorney threat and make it 4 wins out of 4. This Sunday we travel to Castlegregory to play the local side. Next up in U12 NK Div 1 will be a home V Ballymac at 7pm on Wednesday April 25th.
Austin Stacks U12 Rockets following their win over Abbeydorney B on Wed 18th April.
U14 Girls Féile Finals: We played in the tough Div 1 group of Féile last Sunday afternoon where our opponents included Abbeydorney, Inbhear Scéine Gaels & Southern Gaels. We won our first game V Abbeydorney but suffered defeats to both the Kenmare and the South Kerry sides. Southern Gaels will once again represent Kerry in this year’s National Féile Finals – we understand that only on 2 other previous occasions have Southern Gaels not represented Kerry in Féile. Our U14s will travel to Churchill this Saturday to play a challenge game.
U16 Girls Co. League Div 2: FT Stacks 3-6 (15) Na Gaeil 2-13 (19) Played last Thursday evening (April 12th) in Connolly Park this was a very entertaining game from start to finish. Na Gaeil struck first with a point from play before Stacks responded with a free by Grainne Carmody, followed up by a bullet of a goal by Kerry U14 Heather Mac Namara. The excellent Eimear O’Sullivan kicked over 2 long range points from play as Stacks led 1-3 to 0-1. Na Gaeil then found their form and took complete control for the remainder of the half – scoring 1-6 (goal from a penalty) without reply before Grainne Carmody pointed a free to leave the scores at HT Stacks 1-4 Na Gaeil 1-7. Two quick points for Na Gaeil from the resumption gave the Killeen side a comfortable lead that they were never going to relinquish. Stacks can be grateful to the heroics of super goal-keeper Chloe Fitzpatrick who made 2 excellent point blank saves. Na Gaeil had raced into a 7 point lead when the hard working Ella Breen burst through to score a sensational goal for the Rockies. Grainne Carmody kicked another pointed free to leave the score line with 10 minutes to go Stacks 2-5 Na Gaeil 1-12. Stacks now pushed forward but na Gaeil exploited our stretched defence and worked in a fine move before firing home a bullet of a goal to restore their 7 point lead. Our girls could have dropped the heads at this stage but it was heart warming to see the Stacks girls rally once more and fight on. Roisin Coffey nipped in for a point from play. Na Gaeil replied with their final score of the evening, another beautifully taken long range point which was a feature of their game all evening. The final say went to Stacks Lara Flynn who struck for Stacks third goal deep in injury time . FT Stacks 3-6 Na Gaeil 2-13. A great game played in a very sporting manner – well done to both teams.
