Next Wednesday sees the beginning of a new and exciting Rockie project. The club is partnering with the excellent Shanakill Community Centre to bring GAA coaching , fun and activity into the area. Every Wednesday at 6.30pm from now on , on the Sports pitch behind the Community Centre, we will hold training and games sessions which are and will be actively promoted by the Centre (flyers have gone out already to most of Shanakill , Rahoonane, Gallowsfield and Muing and will be completed in the coming days).
The aim is to work with the local community in building something that local young kids will enjoy and learn from – and gradually make their way down to Connolly Park. If it goes well we would hope to run street leagues between the various areas on Wednesday’s over the Summer and Autumn — this is a mixed program and open to all boys and girls ,with upper age limits of U12s/14.
This is all under the Stacks banner ( in conjunction with the Centre) and is being promoted as such, and presents the club with a unique opportunity to help establish something special that will benefit the local community, the Centre and Austin Stacks.
THE ASK: I am looking for volunteer coaches from both ladies and men’s groups to help on Wednesday’s between 6.30pm and 745 pm… please text LIAM on 087 6189655 if you can help make this happen.
