Now that the under 14 competitions have finished, the busy under 13 season kicks off in style. This Wednesday,13th August, there is a double header in the Coiste Tra Li Town u13 finals with our gallant under 12’s, under the excellent stewardship of John Purcell et al, play John Mitchels in the Under 13 Division 2 Town Final at 6.00 p.m. At 7.15 p.m. our “A” team take on na Gaeil in the Division 1 final. The venue for these games is Connolly Park.
2014 Oaklands Daybreak Rose Cup: This takes place next Saturday, August 16th, over two venues, Na Gaeil’s club grounds at Killeen and Kerins O’Rahilly’s grounds at Healy Park, Ballyrickard, where we will be based. We find ourselves in a group with Miltown/Castlemaine, Dingle and Rathmore, all highly rated teams. The competition starts at 10.30 a.m. in both venues with games 10 minutes a side. The top two teams progress to play a cup or shield semi final in Healy Park. Both finals are scheduled for Killeen at 2.45 p.m. Best of luck to both clubs on hosting this competition. Team mentors are Paudie McQuinn, Eamon Linnane, Gene O’Donnell and Dave Scanlon. All support welcome.
When this is over, attention switches to our own prestigious Lee Strand u13 invitational tournament and this is scheduled to take place on the weekend of Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September, the weekend between the All-Ireland Hurling and All Ireland Football finals.
